Wolves aren't the only insatiable predator running wild in Colorado nowadays.
Colorado's Democrat-controlled Legislature convened a Special Session this week to address a $1B budget deficit.
Naturally, the Democrats wanted to make it clear that none of this was their fault — just like it never is.
If nothing else, this session is shining a big spotlight on just how incredibly out of touch the majority of our legislative body is with the average Coloradan.
The sentiment echoed by Republican representatives was that this session was anything but special. Many suspected the outcomes of nearly every bill were pre-determined before members even returned to Denver.
Since the passage of SB24-157, Democrats can meet in total secrecy to build their legislative game plans without triggering public transparency requirements.
In the name of "efficiency," Democrats invoked Rule 16 to limit debate on each bill to just one hour.
Their first legislative priority? Fast-tracking guaranteed funding to one of the most controversial organizations in the nation — Planned Parenthood.
Apparently, so-called "averted pregnancies" (their term, not ours) are expected to save taxpayers money.
Then, lawmakers may have blocked general fund dollars from being used this fiscal year to import more wolves — but left the door open for donations to continue the project.
And in a show of generosity to small businesses, they passed HB25B-1006 to "relieve confusion" — instead of just letting them keep up to $12,000.
Speaking of shining a spotlight...
While spending was under scrutiny, it was revealed that Colorado's government has drastically increased money sent to nonprofits and NGOs — with a 94.63% year-over-year increase.
In July 2025 alone, Colorado nonprofits/NGOs received $174,475,121 of your tax dollars.
Multiply that by 12 and you're looking at over $2B per year disappearing from the ledger. If Coloradans learned anything from DOGE, it's that USAID was undoubtedly a money laundering scheme.
It appears we have the same thing happening here in Colorado. Need an example?
Rep. Lorena Garcia, a Democrat, is the Executive Director of the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition (CSPC). CSPC’s revenue skyrocketed from ~$500K to $2.7M after Garcia’s appointment to the legislature in January 2023.
At the same time, Garcia’s salary from the nonprofit nearly tripled. And 99.3% of that increase came from state grants, a.k.a your tax dollars.
We'll let you take it from there...
None of this is what government is designed to do — but it's exactly what happens when lawmakers go unchecked for too long.
The bottom line: as long as Colorado Democrats hold a near-supermajority, they’ll keep pummeling taxpayers while blaming Republicans every step of the way.
Freedom-loving Coloradans must come together to reclaim at least one chamber of the legislature and restore some sanity in Denver.
What has been tried in recent years is obviously not working.
We’re happy to engage in the conversation and help however we can.
