Colorado Freedom Force Update

When he was first elected Governor, Jared Polis leaned heavily into his gimmick of always wearing running shoes to signal he was always on the move.

Through the years, it's become clear he should've opted to wear a gymnastics leotard instead. (Apologies for the grotesque mental image.)

If you saw the Governor's attempted triple twist dismount this week regarding his "bridge to nowhere" then you'll certainly agree. He's willing to flip, twist and spin the truth any way possible to make it look like he stuck the landing.

After touting the construction of this artistically-designed and completely impractical bridge at the State Capitol with a $30M price tag, the Governor ran an online poll to gauge the public's interest.

Thankfully, it looks like he didn't ask Jena Griswold to count the votes...

Here are the results:

Total Votes: 87,686

Yes: 3,330 (3.8%)
Maybe: 2,043 (2.3%)
No: 82,313 (93.9%)

Needless to say, you don't have to foot the bill for the Governor's "bridge to nowhere" any more, but he wants to be sure you know he always opposed it and always will.

It certainly begs the question: "Why can't all the Governor's decisions from here on out be based on a public poll?"

On the national stage, Freshman Republican Congressman Gabe Evans is feeling the heat for being one of eight Republicans in the House to cosponsor the DIGNITY Act.

The bill would offer legal status to millions of illegal immigrants under certain conditions, such as paying $7,000 and any back taxes, and not having a criminal history. (except the part of them being here illegally, of course)

To be entirely fair, the bill fills the void of a moderate solution to part of our immigration issues.

But to opponents, this bill is largely viewed as amnesty in disguise, and is certainly not in line with the Trump Administration's efforts to mass-deport illegal immigrants.

Rep. Evans' support for the bill shouldn't come as a huge surprise. He leaned into his Mexican-American heritage on the campaign trail and was openly in support of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

For many, including Colorado Freedom Force, the opposition to this bill comes not from the language specifically, but the timing.

Before any type of amnesty be granted to anyone, even the "good guys", America needs to continue to press forward in both securing our nation's borders and fixing legal immigration processes.

Ultimately, the DIGNITY Act is not expected to advance to a vote in the House, which means much of the heat on Congressman Evans and others will subside with the changing of the news cycle.

Until then, stay engaged. Stay vocal. Stay free!
