A new bill at the Colorado Capitol will wipe out your TABOR refund for the next 10 years.

Colorado Democrats are looking to pass Senate Bill 26-135 and send another TABOR fight straight to your ballot this November, diverting billions of dollars to government programs instead of refunding taxpayers.

The ballot measure would likely eliminate TABOR refunds for the next 10 years, diverting about $2 billion to K-12 education.

We have all seen this playbook before:

• Promise the money is only temporary
• Claim it’s “for the children” or "for the schools"
• Spend the refunds permanently

This is yet another attempt to gut the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, and Democrats are taking the easy road to the ballot since it would be an uphill battle to gather petition signatures from citizens willing to forego their TABOR refunds.
