News outlets are reporting that the Republican gubernatorial primary may not be decided until Thursday, with Victor Marx holding a narrow lead over Barb Kirkmeyer as additional ballots are counted.

Even without a conclusion to that race, there are several notable results worth mentioning.

In Denver, voters chose to replace 15-term Congressman Diana DeGette with Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros in the Democratic primary for Colorado's 1st Congressional District.

The outcome marks one of the biggest political upsets of the night and reflects a broader trend of progressive candidates challenging long-serving Democratic incumbents.

Not all that long ago, Colorado was considered a reliably Republican state.

Today, Denver is drawing comparisons to other socialist strongholds like New York City and their wave of "Mini Mamdani's" after elevating another Democratic Socialist to Congress.

Not all the news was one-sided, however.

State Senator Julie Gonzales fell short in her challenge to Senator John Hickenlooper, suggesting that while ultra-progressive candidates gained ground in some races, they couldn't prevail statewide.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Phil Weiser defeated Senator Michael Bennet for the Democratic nomination for governor, with the race being called shortly after polls closed.

With almost all the primaries behind us, the focus now shifts to November.

Over the coming weeks, Colorado Freedom Force will begin highlighting the races that could have the greatest impact on the future of our state.

We'll introduce you to key districts through "Campaign Spotlights," showing you where your support and engagement can make the biggest difference.

Stay tuned. Some of the most important campaigns of the year are just getting started.
